This painting celebrates the architecture of “Richmond’s Grand Movie Palace”, which opened on December 24th, 1928. The theatre was designed in the French Empire style by Richmond architect, Fred Bishop. It is constructed with red tapestry brick and trimmed in ornate polychrome terracotta.
The original painting was completed in 2021 and done in watercolor and archival ink. The prints are carefully color matched to the original and printed using archival inks and paper.
